Mealtimes

All food will be freshly cooked at nursery. Menus have been carefully planned to meet the nutritional requirements of children and guidance from the Children's Food Trust has guided menu planning. Menus will be published in due course.

Mealtimes are an important time of day for children. Within the baby room the mealtime routine will be dictated by the individual needs of the babies themselves. Some babies may be fed in highchairs whilst others may sit at a table to eat. Some babies may still be bottle fed or feeding mothers may choose to come in to nursery to breast feed.

Within the toddler room children will eat in their key groups with their key practitioners, the same applies with children in preschool.
​
Preschool children will be expected to serve themselves from choices made available on their tables. Staff will support children to make healthy choices, e.g., to choose a balanced meal consisting of carbohydrates, protein and vegetables. Children in the preschool will eat from china plates and drink from glasses at all mealtimes, unless a risk assessments informs us otherwise. Toddlers and babies will use plastic plates and beakers.

Ofsted registered full day care nursery
We provide many resources and opportunities for children to develop their mathematical skills and conceptual knowledge. 'Will this fit?' 'Why not?' 'What could I do differently?' are all questions which can be answered by a simple shape sorting activity.
Children learn a range of skills and knowledge during all activities. Physical activities such as this 'tunnel' activity will support personal, social and emotional development as children work together, physical development is promoted as they crawl and scramble through the tunnel, spacial awareness is developed as they work out how many children might fit in the tunnel, and their knowledge of the world changes as they observe how light and shadows change on the tunnel. About Mill House
Mill House Day Nursery is located in Mill Green Road and it provides full day care (8:00 am - 6:00 pm) for children aged 0 to 5 years of age. Mill House Day Nursery has been set up by a team of experts in the field of childcare who are passionate about providing the best possible care and education for babies, toddlers and preschool aged children.

Mill House promotes learning through play within an enabling and exciting environment which children can explore and investigate. The environment has been designed to provide exceptional learning experiences including a child friendly kitchen area where pre-school children have the opportunity to freely access cooking experiences within a safe and enabling environment.

Our Team
A team of qualified and experienced practitioners support children at Mill House. Practitioners promote learning and development through meaningful play opportunities and experiences. Team members are led and managed by leaders who are qualified assessors in the field of child care and early years education.

Newly registered day nurseries are usually Ofsted inspected within the first 30 months of registration; We chose to demonstrate our commitment to developing a high quality service by committing to achieve ECERS and ITERS recognition. This foresight to achieve such recognition proven to be invaluable during the Covid pandemic which resulted in Ofsted inspections being delayed; our commitment to achieving these standards has enabled us to effectively reassure parents that our service is of a very high standard and that their children are in very safe and very capable hands.
