Mealtimes

All food will be freshly cooked at nursery. Menus have been carefully planned to meet the nutritional requirements of children and guidance from the Children's Food Trust has guided menu planning. Menus will be published in due course.

Mealtimes are an important time of day for children. Within the baby room the mealtime routine will be dictated by the individual needs of the babies themselves. Some babies may be fed in highchairs whilst others may sit at a table to eat. Some babies may still be bottle fed or feeding mothers may choose to come in to nursery to breast feed.

Within the toddler room children will eat in their key groups with their key practitioners, the same applies with children in preschool.

Preschool children will be expected to serve themselves from choices made available on their tables. Staff will support children to make healthy choices, e.g., to choose a balanced meal consisting of carbohydrates, protein and vegetables. Children in the preschool will eat from china plates and drink from glasses at all mealtimes, unless a risk assessments informs us otherwise. Toddlers and babies will use plastic plates and beakers.

Your child will be placed on our waiting list until a vacancy arises, once a place has been offered we will request a £100 deposit in order to secure your child's place. This deposit in non-refundalbe in the event that you cancel your child's place, however, this will be refunded against your first month's fees once your child commences with us.

Your Child's Class
Your child will be placed in the class that meets their age at the time of admittance. This ensures that we are able to meet staff ratios which differ between the 3 age groups (0-1y11m, 2-2y11m, 3y+).

Whilst we are able to admit children throughout the year, our main transitions throughout the nursery occur in September when our pre-reception children leave us for Reception Class (big school). Children who turn 2years old will not automatically transition to our toddler room until a vacancy arises in that room, and the same applies to children who turn 3years old who will not automatically transition to our preschool. We appreicate that each birthday is important, however, we cannot breach ratios in any of our rooms; our planning will always ensure that children's needs are met.
